Dr. Maureen Markle-Reid shared the objectives of a five year program of research led by herself and Jenny Ploeg, School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University. The Principle Knowledge User is Dr. Debra Bournes, Provincial Chief Nursing Officer, Ontario Ministry of Health.  Research will be carried out in Ontario and Alberta by an experienced interdisciplinary team of investigators, scientists and clinicians, advised by patients and families, and supported by senior health system decision makers.

“Objectives/Proposed Activities:  The aim of this research is to promote optimal aging at home for older adults with multiple chronic condition (MCC) and to support family caregivers.  To this end, the program will design new and innovative community interventions to improve access to health care, health related quality of life and health outcomes, while reducing.”

2013 Neurobehavioral Conference in Acquired Brain Injury

May 9,10 at the Hamilton Convention Centre

2013 was the 20th Anniversary of Hamilton Health Sciences Annual Neurobehavioral Conference.  The conference is a highly regarded educational event with this year’s theme being “ Innovative Strategies for Issues Complicating Brain Injury.” There were over 300 delegates in attendance and numerous sponsors including: Gluckstein & Associates, Himelfarb & Prozanski Lawyers, Rosss & McBride Lawyers, De Rose and Assoc. Lawyers, Morris Law Group, Oatley Vigmond, Lawyers, Robert Deutchman & Assoc. The 2013 Annual Handic Conference May 16, 2013

The Hamilton and Neighbouring District Infection Control (HANDIC) group held it’s 17th annual Education Day at the Grand Olympia Banquet & Convention Centre, 660 Barton St., in Stoney Creek. 
Over 200 professionals from Long Term Care, Public Health and Acute Care were in attendance.  Topics covered by guest speakers included Managing Outbreaks in Community, LTC and Acute Care, Challenges faced during The 2012 Influenza Season, and Best Practices in Infection Control.
This was Alert/Best Nursing’s 4th year sponsoring this great educational event.

Dundas Home Lifestyle Show

On April 6, 2013 Alert/Best Nursing sponsored the Dundas Home Lifestyle Show.
The show was held at the Lyons Community Centre. Market and King St. West, Dundas.
Seniors products and services were showcased.
Twelve Restaurants handed out Gourmet samples of their cuisine.
Sunni Genesco of K-Lite FM was the Master of Ceremonies and will be announcing the door prizes.
